CEO and President

Maas Energy Works

Daryl Maas is the CEO and President of Maas Energy Works (MEW), the leading developer of dairy biogas projects in the United States. After completing his career in the U.S. Air Force in 2007, Daryl returned to his roots in the dairy community of northwest Washington, where he discovered a growing interest among local dairy families in digester technology for capturing energy from animal waste. This insight led him to develop and commission his first biogas facility in 2009.

In 2010, Daryl relocated to Redding, California, with his family and founded MEW to explore the expanding opportunities in the renewable energy sector. Under his leadership, MEW completed its first California dairy digester in 2013 and has since developed over 70 successful projects, with over 50 additional projects currently in progress across the country.

Daryl and MEW spearheaded the first successful RNG pipeline cluster in the U.S. in 2016 and have since built over 100 miles of biogas gathering lines and nine distinct utility pipeline interconnections nationwide.

The renewable natural gas (RNG) produced by MEW’s dairy digesters is an important part of the transportation sector. This carbon-negative biogas is most commonly used to create compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel for a variety of vehicles, from city buses and freight trucks to delivery vans. Other MEW facilities use biogas to generate renewable electricity for electric vehicle charging credits. MEW is a leader in investigating new efforts to deploy biogas as a feedstock in the production of hydrogen and also advanced shipping and aviation fuels.
