In collaboration with the 2023 Fresno International Transportation Innovations / 2023 PEDAL Summit, there are a variety of pre- and post-summit events open to the community, including bike rides, community speakers, and more! These events begin from Wednesday, October 25 through Sunday, October 29. Please refer to the schedule below for more details on the events scheduled!

Fresno State Speaking Event with Gil Penalosa

On Wednesday, October 25, Gil Penalosa will be visiting Fresno State to present to students from a range of departments, including engineering, planning, environmental, and social & political sciences, to present topics on how future students could make a difference in their community through sustainable mobility, parks, and other public spaces.

Fresno State x FH Munster Student & Professors Panel

On Wednesday, October 25, civil engineering students and professors from the Munster University of Applied Sciences will be visiting Fresno State to answer questions on civil engineering education in Germany, along with research being conducted. This event is open to all students of any major and will be held in IT 160.

Join us at the San Joaquin River Parkway trust to meet Gil Penalosa, ranked #13 among the top 100 Most Influential Contemporary Urbanists by Planetizen, for a discussion on sustainable city and urban planning, with an emphasis on how cities can be made affordable and equitable for everyone! Following this event at the San Joaquin River Parkway Trust is the Fresno Bike Film Festival. Details below on this event.

After the presentation and Q&A, the Fresno County Bicycle Coalition will host the Bicycle Film Festival at the San Joaquin River Parkway Trust through a showing of "the Engine Inside", a movie that  reveals the unique power of the bicycle to change lives and build a better world.

Morning Mural Bike Ride

Location:

Cultural Arts District Park

Join us to Learn the history of Fresno’s art district and the public arts pieces from Fresno Arts Council docent Andrea Mele by biking through Downtown Fresno’s Mural District! Riders will also be joined by PEDAL Summit Keynote Speaker and Urbanist Gil Peñalosa from Toronto, Canada, who was voted as #13 most influential urbanists in the world by Planetizen. The ride will conclude with a lunchtime social at the South of Shaw Brewery.

 

The ride will be sponsored by the Fresno Cycling Club Killer Bees and led by Joe Cassinerio.

Tour De Tower Cycletrack Social Ride

Ride along one of Fresno’s newest Class IV, separated bike lanes in the Tower District! The Tower District is one of Fresno’s oldest neighborhoods that is known for its lively nightlife, vibrancy, and walkability. The district is home to the gorgeous Tower Theatre, which has been revitalized as the district’s center point in its iconic 1930's style.
