Professor Sowles graduated from Washington State University, School of Design and
Construction, Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture with an MA in Interior Design.
Her research interests are in the future of intelligent interior design and how the discipline
uses emerging tools in ambient environments to advance the profession. Her current
research explores emerging theories and design outcomes in intelligent design, which are
associated with distributed cyber technologies and Artificial Intelligence
