Jose de Alba is an accomplished leader serving as the Office Chief of Intelligent Transportation Systems at the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).

 

Previously, he spent a decade at the California High-Speed Rail Authority as a project and contract manager, playing a key role in advancing this transformative mega-project.

 

Jose holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from California State University, Fresno, and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of California.

 

He currently leads efforts in the use of Unmanned Aerial Systems (drones) for traffic management applications, applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) with video detection to increase safety at and near traffic signals, and testing and piloting applications in the field of Connected and Automated Vehicles (V2X/vehicle-to-everything) technologies.
